The best way to explore the colorful streets of the old city is by a scooter or a two-wheeler as the old city is made with passages and lanes for walking in particular. And you should definitely not avoid these beautiful lanes of the old city. The lakes and cafes and palaces and temples all are planned eccentrically to the lakes. One might be even able to explore the whole city by just walking.

One can start from the Jagdish Temple in the center to go up lane to the City Palace. This Palace itself is so huge that it upholds 11 palaces within it. One might even need almost a few hours to explore the whole palace. After that, you can start walking or ride to the lakes nearby and gardens nearby are beautiful too.

There are even two Temples located on the hilltop and you might not want to miss on the view that offers. You can go on with the lake count from Lake Pichola to Dudh Talai to Fateh Sagar to Lake Badi on the outskirts of Udaipur. The food in Udaipur ranges from the street food to the typical Rajasthani thali.  After a meal, you can go shopping in the old city. You might find similarities in the market of Udaipur and Jaipur but still might notice the difference in the design and pattern.

Traveling the outskirts of Udaipur

What is the point of traveling to Udaipur if you do not visit the beautified palaces here? One might love to travel to Sajjangarh palace also famously known as The Monsoon Palace. Another high point of the city is this Monsoon Palace. You will be able to see the entire city from a distant yet faraway place.

This place is romantic and beautiful at the same time. After the monsoon palace one might hit the road to travel to Haldhighati and Kumbhalgarh Fort. Both places hold a significant mark in the history of Rajasthan and Rajput culture. Kumbhalgarh though it is 85kms from the city but the fort is worth the journey.
